The Grand Plan

This site is to help explain the Grand Plan for Central Baptist Church outreach if money were no object.

Flourescent green light with a cross equalling a heart

Our neighborhood has an urgent and critical need for the gospel and salvation. We plan to work to make inroads to this urgent and critical need by meeting our neighborhood's felt needs.

The Initiatives

We are working toward having a solid foundation ready to receive and minister to our neighborhood.

Context-wise, know that the intent of this site is not to give detail regarding the implementation of the initiatives expounded but rather to explain the framework so that the reader may (1) have an overview and broad understanding of the direction in which Central Baptist Church is working to minister to our neighborhood, (2) know the reasoning behind the work that the church is doing, and (3) have questions answered that we are anticipating.

Picture of question, "What do you mean?"

Keep in mind while reading this, one of our goals when it comes to the neighborhood is that, if we were to disappear, the neighborhood would miss us.

Each initiative may be explained separately as its own module, and all the initiatives together as one represent the totality that Central Baptist Church desires to execute.

Rich Community

(Acts 2:42-47, Matthew 25:34-36, Matthew 4:11)

The rich community involves constant fellowship that grows relationship organically and has a continuous food supply to complement the fellowship and make it more feasible for members and families to regularly participate. Leading this group are members of Central Baptist Church who are willing and able to encourage the brethren and leadership in fellowship and to open their homes and time to members and congregants in need, and on demand, be a welcoming group to visitors. This servant group gathers in regular fellowship to knit these members' hearts together. Sunday fellowship after church is the most common fellowship time. Since the Sunday fellowship is a staple of the fellowship group, visitors to the Sunday church worship service may easily join the group if they want to get familiar with the church and get to know this rich community. Incorporated in this fellowship is one-on-one ministry, refreshment, strengthening, renewal, encouragement, and even "state of the ministry" debriefing. As time allows, this fellowship also includes Bible studies.

COMMUNITY HELPS PROGRAM: SELF-DEFENSE TRAINING (CHURCH MMA) with a FOOD BANK

(1 Corinthians 9)

We started Church MMA because we want to help our community be safer through self-defense training, and we received significant interest for this from the neighborhood. This is a program that we have implemented that truly reaches our neighborhood and allows us to make genuine connections with neighbors through meeting one of their real felt needs.

Regarding key expenses for Church MMA, food provided, at least when the program begins, is important for several reasons. It helps build community and grow relationships organically as food and fellowship go hand-in-hand. Hungry children are often training who seem as if they may have not eaten for the day. The program is built by volunteers, some of whom work six hours sometimes with only a handful of five minute breaks. Therefore, it is important to have food for the coaches so that they may quickly grab sustenance during the workday. Financially, as the Church MMA community grows, providing food may not be sustainable, however if the program has grown so large that the food budget cannot keep up, then that probably means the groundwork of having the foundational community required with relationship has already been laid and may continue apart from the food. In this case food then may only be provided in interspersed events instead such as watch parties and student appreciation dinners. For hungry children, we may still provide food, however this would be through our food bank rather than to the entire Church MMA student body at large.

Note also that gear is a significant expense for coaches. While we encourage Church MMA coaches to purchase these items from their own funds as contributions to the church, if coaches are in need and do not have funds to both care for their families and pay for expenses that are the result of Church MMA coaching, required items may be purchased from Church MMA funds, providing funds are present and we are sensitive to the amount of church funds available. Required items may be things such as supplements and gear that includes rash guards, shirts, shorts, boxing gloves, shin guards, etc.

If money is no object, a dedicated training facility will be built. Location-wise, the front lawn will be feasible on which to build. In addition to the training facility the structure would share space with our food bank as the food bank is a natural outcome of the connections that we are making with our neighborhood in our engagement with neighbors.

Cozy and modern apartment room

(1 Corinthians 9, Matthew 25:34-36)

Both for ministry workers who work significant hours in the ministry and for the community that we are developing through the church and our helps programs, it would valuable to meet felt needs through affordable housing. In this neighborhood, we frequently are met with neighbors that the church knows or members that are in need of temporary housing during a difficult transitional period. If we have apartments available, then we have an outlet to offer housing to these people. Additionally, significant hours are being worked for the ministry by volunteers in the church. We may relieve some burden for these faithful workers by offering them affordable housing so that they may dedicate more time to the gospel ministry rather than to making a large income to pay for their housing. We may also eliminate the ministry workers commute which will translate to additional time and money, and more workers will be available and ready on the property on demand for Building and Grounds emergencies, coaching, security, and other ministry. Therefore, having this housing for ministry workers will, in turn, work to fulfill the mission of the church to make disciples, preach the gospel, go into all the world, baptize, and teach to obey all that Christ commands. If money is no object, a second single family home will be built on the parsonage property as the back yard is large enough to build a second home. Then, apartments will be built above the Church MMA training and food bank facility on the second floor, and they will be offered to coaches, staff, members, and known neighbors on a first-come, first-serve basis according to need.

Reliable Transportation

If money is no object, it would be valuable to own reliable transportation such as a church van or large truck to be offered to transport members, staff, students, and coaches for ministry purposes when personal transportation is unavailable.

SOCIAL MEDIA & MUSIC OUTREACH

(Matthew 10:27)

Our Social Media and Music Outreach is so that we can present God and Gospel presentations to the world. This is an important piece to our Grand Plan as, while we are being "all things to all people" so that our prayer may be answered and some may be saved, concurrently, we are clearly and uncompromisingly letting both our neighborhood and the world know what we believe and what we are all about. This way they may transparently know with whom they have fellowship. We want people to be saved and to know Christ, His truth, and the Word, and this may clearly be understod in our Social Media and Music Outreach. Therefore, this is an important piece to have in the Grand Plan.

Attractive and inviting grounds with benches, trees, bushes, and walkways

(Psalm 23)

We want to have grounds that get noticed! We want to be a place that offers refreshment and renewal and is something that, even if neighbors do not attend the church or its programs, they appreciate the church being in the neighborhood for its aesthetic value. In the context of our grounds, we want to work toward being noticed, appreciated, and a blessing to our neighborhood simply by the aesthetic value that we bring to the neighborhood. Ways that we may do this are installing inviting and attractive lighting both at the church and the parsonage to bring attention to the church so that our neighborhood knows we are here and appreciates us. We may broadcast our music from our Social Media and Music Outreach program or broadcast Scripture reading from our property outdoors in similar fashion to outdoor malls. We may add extra large planters, boulders, and other outdoor decor and nice seating areas and a setup for an outdoor eatery. Doing this would also have an added benefit to show that the property is to be respected and well maintained and well loved. For the parsonage, we could build an appealing, creative, cozy outdoor sitting area with a tree house for the kids and adult seating and swings underneath. This could act as a community forum area for the church fellowship group and neighbors with whom we have connected.

Attractive & Inviting Grounds

Central Baptist Church east entrance to Worship Center

The Building and Grounds are in need of basic yet large updates. The most major update that is required for our building is a new roof. Besides this, paint throughout, new windows, new carpet, and bathroom upgrades are a need. Then, ideally it would be good to have an audit of our building in order to identify necessary repairs for safety and longevity of the structure and then to implement the necessary fixes according to the audit. Finally, protecting the property and securing the grounds is presently a significant need because of the level of crime that is in our neighborhood. We would like to fence in the entirety of our property including the parking lot for enhanced security, install parking blocks for at least every other stall in the parking lot in order to reduce wear and tear on the lot due to unauthorized vehicles doing stunts and donuts on the lot, and install a mobile security trailer.

Church Worship Service

(1 Peter 2:9, Revelation 4, 5, 19)

This is where we pray our neighborhood, to which we have labored so hard to reach, will ultimately be. While our fellowship and our community helps programs are casual and, from the outside, look the same as any usual activity, our church worship service is noticeably distinct so that the message is clearly given that church is set apart, holy. We want the message clearly shown that we are a chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession that can show others the goodness of God as He called us out of the darkness and into His wonderful light. Church is where we bow in worship and adoration to Jesus Christ who is worthy to receive glory and honor and power.

Bring It In

In totality, with the implementation of the Grand Plan, foundationally we have a well-rounded ministry, ample opportunity for church and neighborhood to connect and grow in genuine community, have felt needs met, and know the life-changing message of the gospel as Central Baptist Church tirelessly labors to fulfill the Great Commission.

“Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’” (Matthew 28:18-20)
